Faith Christian Academy Granted Accreditation

Local Christian School meets national standards for academic excellence


Fernandina Beach, Florida — June 11, 2014

Faith Christian Academy, founded in 1996 and located in Fernandina Beach, Florida, announced today that Faith Christian Academy has been granted state accreditation from the Florida League of Christian Schools (FLOCS).

“This is a monumental achievement not only for Faith Christian Academy to be state and nationally accredited, but also for the Christian Education as well,” stated FLOCS Executive Director, Michael Burroughs. “We are honored to recognize such a great school and know that students and parents will value this recognition.”

Faith Christian Academy conducted a rigorous process of self-examination of the entire school and prepared a self-evaluation report for FLOCS. All program materials from all courses offered, as well as material validating governance, facilities, student services, safety and more, were sent for review to specialists chosen by FLOCS. A team of national trained evaluators then traveled to the school and conducted an onsite review that included financial audits, student services and review of all procedures. Based on this entire process and the teams’ report to the Accrediting Commission, Faith Christian Academy was granted national accreditation.

FLOCS accreditation opens the door for students with tuition assistance opportunities from the military, employers and other sources, to assist Faith Christian Academy in meeting FHSAA requirements, as well as meeting requirements for participation in academic recognition societies, like the National Honor Society. Accreditation also increases opportunities for students to transfer credits, and enhances employment prospects.

The Florida League of Christian Schools (FLOCS) has served Florida since 1984 as the state’s primary choice for Christian preschool and K-12 education, promoting biblical, academic, and professional excellence in its member schools. As a partner agency with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), FLOCS is a state and nationally recognized accrediting agency as well as a nonprofit voluntary membership organization promoting quality assessment programs that focus on academic excellence at all levels (preschool through grade 12), member training which provides ongoing professional development and centers on best practice, teacher certification for qualifying educators, and integration of Christian distinctives through all practices and precepts.
